CULTURE NEWS

  • The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum and Twin Cities Krewe de Riviere will hold a family-friendly Mardi Gras party on Jan. 31 at the museum, where local families can enjoy hands-on activities.  KNOE

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A winter storm watch is active for Friday evening, with freezing rain, sleet and snow expected in Northeast Louisiana. Bitterly cold temperatures may drop into the teens and lower as conditions could extend through next week, and Franklin Parish officials advise residents to stay home if possible.  KNOE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nutritionist Jen Avis joined Good Morning ArkLaMiss on Jan. 22, 2026 at 8:52 a.m. (she discussed dietary fiber) to bring a local focus on nutrition.  KNOE
  • Nutritionist Jen Avis appeared on Good Morning ArkLaMiss to advise that adults have daily fiber goals—she explained that few women and men meet these targets and highlighted natural sources as well as supplemental fiber options.  KNOE
  • Acadian Ambulance Service shares home heating tips to help residents stay safe during the upcoming winter storm (they advise running generators outside and using safe heating methods if power goes out). Residents are encouraged to follow these guidelines as storm conditions could disrupt power.  KNOE

  • Trey Lane and Chase Tanzy were named Aaron's Aces by the Richwood Rams in recognition of standout play. The announcement highlights local talent as the season continues.  KNOE
