COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Monroe is set to begin the Barbados Blvd. pavement and drainage repair project with a groundbreaking ceremony on February 18, 2025, to enhance safety and infrastructure sustainability.  KEDM
  • The Krewe of Janus parade in Monroe, La, will proceed despite expected storms on Feb. 15, with officials emphasizing safety precautions.  KNOE

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An 18-wheeler overturned on I-20 East near Calhoun, causing congestion with no injuries reported, as emergency crews respond.  KNOE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Monroe City School Board allocated $316,121 for educational services from local and national organizations to support classroom teachers and develop new programs.  The Ouachita Citizen
  • The University of Louisiana Monroe, in collaboration with Senator Katrina Jackson-Andrews and other officials, offers free ACT preparation workshops for students in grades 7-12, including meals.  KNOE
  • Louisiana's education ranking improved from 49th to 32nd thanks to efforts by teachers and parental engagement, as highlighted by Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley during a visit to Claiborne Elementary.  KNOE
