CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The North Louisiana Quilt Guild will host the 2026 Quilt Show at West Monroe Convention Center on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28, featuring over 200 quilts, live demonstrations, vendors, raffle tickets, door prizes, lunch, and free parking (tickets cost $7 for ages 9 to 79). KEDM
- ➤ Monroe Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors’ President Jarrod Richey appeared on Good Morning ArkLaMiss to invite locals to experience the new Spring waltz show — performance dates and venue details will be shared soon. KNOE
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ American Airlines will add a mid-morning flight connecting Monroe Regional Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth International starting Tuesday, April 7 to improve travel for business and work. Local partners (Grow NELA, LED and the city) supported the project. KEDM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Six districts in NELA have switched to a four-day week over the last decade - administrators report clear benefits even as challenges arise with the condensed schedule. More districts may follow soon. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Monroe residents may lower their water bill through the Lifeline Utility Rate if they are 62 or older or have a permanent disability and meet HUD income limits. Applicants must submit a notarized application in person and the reduced rate applies (up to 5,000 gallons) with regular charges for extra water. KNOE
- ➤ Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office announced the passing of retired Deputy Brigitte Watson Fitzgerald, who died Saturday in West Monroe at 69. Visitation is set from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Owens Memorial Chapel, with the service beginning at 2 p.m. to honor her service. KNOE
