- ➤ United Way's family relief effort is providing round two of financial help to families hit by winter storm damage. Over 12,000 people have applied + help is now available for those in need. KNOE
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ West Monroe High School's Talented Arts Department announced that senior student Luci Lavery is one of five finalists for the Louisiana George Rodrigue Foundation Art Scholarship Contest. The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, Mar. 28 in New Orleans. KNOE
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ State Farm announced that qualifying Louisiana auto policyholders (with policies active as of Dec. 31) will receive an average dividend of $138 per vehicle this summer, returning about $136 million. Insurance Commissioner Temple said strong underwriting and recent premium reductions led to sharing these savings with customers. KEDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ West Monroe hired a third-party contractor to assist with storm debris removal after crews cleared nearly 4 million pounds of vegetative debris. Cleanup will begin next week & residents are asked to place debris curbside away from roads and sidewalks. KNOE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana Healthcare Connections and the Centene Foundation gave a check ($26,000) to the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana to boost emergency food assistance for local families. The donation is part of a statewide $125,000 effort to increase food access in rural and underserved areas. KEDM
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ A local animal shelter welcomes two energetic kittens — Mouse and Tootie — both three months old and ready for adoption. Interested families can visit the shelter today to meet these playful pets and learn about the process. KNOE
- ➤ Sushi is a 12-week-old dog who is spayed + up to date on her shots and gets along with both dogs and cats; she is available for adoption through a local pet program. KNOE
