COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, March 2, a Monroe nonprofit packed 175 boxes of food at the NELA Food Bank to help families in need. KNOE
- ➤ The ULM Police Department hosted a ribbon cutting for the ULM Bear Hug Program today — several local groups provided backpacks and companies donated personal hygiene kits and supplies to support the event. KNOE
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Monroe Symphony League will hold its Book Fair in March at the Country Corner (320 North Fourth Street) where visitors can browse gently used books, magazines, DVDs, CDs and other items. The event charges a $2 entry fee each day with most books priced under $2. KEDM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cindy G. Foust has been named the new Executive Director of the ULM Foundation after the board approved her appointment on Feb. 27, 2026. She previously served as Interim Executive Director and will lead advancement and alumni relations for the university — showing her strong commitment to ULM. KEDM
- ➤ The ULM Alumni Association will host its 19th annual Wine Over Water fundraiser on Thursday, April 16 to unite alumni, and the University of Louisiana Monroe launched its bear hug program on March 2 to offer comfort to children on campus. KNOE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Monroe Fire Department official Antonio Smith urged residents to inspect and maintain their smoke alarms because working devices can provide early warning during a fast-growing fire * he recalled a fire that claimed three lives in a cluttered, unprepared home. KNOE
