COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kiroli Park will host the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Bicycle Parade and Festival on March 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—the event offers free admission until noon and a $1 fee after. The West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce and Kiroli Park Foundation organize the event that will feature live music, entertainment, and a parade with prizes for the best-decorated child and most festive ride.  KNOE
  • Enoch’s Irish Pub & Cafe will host its 46th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration and Fundraiser on Monday, March 17 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 507 Louisville Ave in Monroe—raffle and t-shirt sales will support the St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy in providing free prescription medications, and Grand Marshal Scott Antley will lead the event.  KNOE

CRIME NEWS

  • Monroe police say that on March 11, 2025, a road rage incident on Peach Street turned violent when 22-year-old Rodneyqua Huey fired a gun at a driver and injured her brother's foot — officers arrested her after finding a warm Glock 19 and marijuana in her car.  MyArkLaMiss

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council is preparing for its premier fundraiser event BLEND—scheduled for March 23.  KNOE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Ouachita Parish School Board is seeking bids for 15 new buses at about $2.2 million to improve safety features like cameras, air conditioning, and radio systems for drivers—this effort serves roughly 11,000 students while the district also seeks to hire more bus drivers. The board is in the early stages and plans annual updates to keep equipment current.  KNOE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Voters in West Monroe will decide on a new 4.5 millage on March 29 to support the city's police — and fire departments.  KNOE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medical professionals are urging Monroe residents to get checked during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month to catch problems early. They say regular screening can help find disease in its early stages.  KNOE
