On Mar. 13, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries declared an emergency after chronic wasting disease was found in a deer in Ouachita Parish, affecting Lincoln, Jackson, Union, Morehouse, Caldwell and Richland Parishes.
Senate Bill 4 in the Louisiana Legislature could remove the state’s requirement for fluoride in public water, allowing community voters to decide on its use while some dentists warn the change might hurt public health.
