- ➤ Catholic Charities of North Louisiana will host Pigs & A Blanket at Layton Castle on Saturday, Apr. 18 to fund services that fight homelessness and hunger; local Knights of Columbus will serve pig roast, pigs & a blanket, music, and a kid’s zone to support financial education and SNAP assistance. - ➤ More than 100 vendors have set up booths at the Monroe Civic Center for the 2026 Northeast Louisiana Homeshow, where visitors compare prices, view mini showrooms (including flooring samples) and lock in deals. KNOE

- ➤ Jo Ann Deal from the Better Business Bureau of Monroe warned locals on Good Morning ArkLaMiss today about a text scam pretending to be from (DMV) and urged them to verify any unexpected messages. KNOE

- ➤ The Junior League of Monroe announced its 28th annual Spring Market will take place at the Monroe Civic Center — Spring Market Co-chair Shelby Young and committee member Tiffany Otwell shared event details on Good Morning ArkLaMiss. KNOE
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ULM is hosting its 10th annual Women's Symposium (From Now to Next) tomorrow at Bayou Pointe Event Center, featuring panel discussions on networking, inclusion, and leadership with keynote remarks by President Dr. Carrie L. Castille; tickets for students, staff, and community members are now available. KEDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ West Monroe residents can apply online or in person for the Make a Difference Grant Housing Program, which funds qualifying home improvements from March 16 through April 17. Homeowners should review policy manuals and eligibility requirements before applying. KNOE
- ➤ Senate Bill 230 would raise the state minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.25 per hour, with annual inflation adjustments, as lawmakers review the proposal in committee (it will appear on the ballot as a constitutional amendment later this year). KNOE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ An adult doe caught in January in our parish tested positive for chronic wasting disease, prompting wildlife officials to expand the control area on Thursday to include all of Ouachita and parts of six other parishes — restrictions now limit baiting and feeding to help curb the disease among deer. KNOE
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ ULM announced its 2026 football schedule on March 13, featuring six home games at Malone Stadium and three matchups with Louisiana teams (first time since 2002). The schedule starts with road games on Sept. 5 and Sept. 12 and begins league play at South Alabama on Oct. 3. KEDM
