- ➤ Residents can join the Green Qube Giveaway — a contest offering $500 cash and free pizza for a year — by following posted entry instructions. KNOE
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a male suspect who robbed Casa Latina in West Monroe, and he is described as White/Hispanic, slender, 5'6-6' tall, armed and dangerous, and was last seen turning south on Rowan Street; anyone with information is urged to call 318-329-1200. KEDM
- ➤ The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching today for 18-year-old Jakiron McGuire—about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds—who is wanted on several charges including first degree murder and is considered armed and dangerous. KNOE
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local blues artist Toby Traylor performed on The Black Curtain at the KEDM studios on March 18. His session was recorded at the University of Louisiana Monroe—hosted by Cory Crowe to share the stories behind his modern Delta Blues style. KEDM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ BoneKrusher Boxing Gym in Monroe is offering a youth trainer program to help young adults become certified trainers—launched last summer by owner Sam Crawford—and the program provides group workouts, mentoring and real-world training experience as recruitment continues through the summer. KNOE
- ➤ Louisiana Delta Community College will host Career Exploration Day on March 27 at 10:30 a.m. at its West Monroe campus where students in grades seven through 12 will learn about industries, discover job opportunities, and tour the campus — all to explore what the college has to offer. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Monroe City Council held a special meeting on March 18 to discuss two ordinances—one to adopt the 2025-2026 operating budget, amended to increase by 3 percent to $72.4 million, and one for a five-year capital improvement plan. The council will revisit the capital improvement plan ordinance on March 25 at 6 p.m. KNOE
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The University of Louisiana Monroe announced that Phil Cunningham is the new head coach — he takes over after Keith Richard retired in December. He served as the team's assistant coach last season and will be introduced today at 11 a.m. inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum — where he looks forward to building a strong program. KNOE
