- ➤ The Town of Richwood will host its 4th annual community health and resource fair on Mar. 25, with over 30 organizations offering free health tests, information, and job application assistance. KNOE
- ➤ St. Paschal Catholic Church in West Monroe is planning a $3.3-million Family Life Center to improve accessibility and expand space for children’s programs. The Ouachita Citizen
- ➤ The Girl Scouts joined Good Morning ArkLaMiss on Mar. 19 to announce that cookie season is underway, sparking excitement among local families (especially kids) as they await cookie sales at community events. KNOE
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today the KNOE team traveled to Baton Rouge for the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Award and received honors including Sports Show of the Year and Investigative Report of the Year; team members awarded are Aaron Dietrich + Megan Murray + Clay Witt + Malorie West. KNOE
- ➤ City officials announced that Downtown Main Street received funding from the Louisiana Project Grant Program for the Bridgetown Mural Project to add public art and celebrate local culture. The award will boost community spaces in Monroe. The Ouachita Citizen
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ America250 is launching a contest for students in grades 3-12 to win a three-day trip to one of 16 cultural sites or a $500 prize, with entries due by Monday, March 30 (5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET); three educators may win $1,000, and under-18 submissions require written permission. KNOE
- ➤ Two local lawmakers filed legislation to ease the voting process for converting existing schools (like Neville High School) into charter schools during the regular legislative session. The Ouachita Citizen
- ➤ TBA Studio unveiled updated renderings for the new ULM School of Construction Management Practice Lab building which will offer instructional spaces + a dedicated construction lab for ULM students and be connected to the existing facility. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indivisible North Louisiana announced speakers for No Kings rallies scheduled for Saturday, March 28, with Ruston’s event holding from 10 — 11 a.m. at Railroad Park and Monroe’s event from 2 — 3 p.m. at the Ouachita Parish Courthouse—where voters can register and get election information. KNOE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Nutritionist Jen Avis appeared on Good Morning ArkLaMiss to explain that Greek yogurt supports bone and digestive health and aids muscle recovery. She advises choosing a product with zero added sugars (active cultures boost probiotics) for breakfast or as a sour cream substitute. KNOE
