- ➤ The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana hosts Super Saturday this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at its Community Garden on 117 Hall Street, offering free family activities, vendors, gardening lessons (for children up to 8) and a chance for 15 families to win hockey game tickets. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Louisiana State Police reported that a 10-year-old boy missing from Ouachita Parish on Mar. 25 was found safe later that night, and his name was withheld for privacy. KNOE
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AAA said gas prices will remain high due to the Iran conflict as Monroe drivers pay $3.49 at the pump; national averages rose by $1 in one month & East Carroll Parish hit $3.69. KNOE
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana college students won a total of $140,000 at the ULM Pelican Cup startup competition held at LSUS and ULM. LSUS’s RX Connect won $50,000 in the graduate division while ULM's Social Bridge AI took first in the undergraduate division. KNOE
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The latest US Drought Monitor on March 26 shows extreme drought expanding in ArkLaMiss, affecting Concordia, Catahoula, La Salle and Winn Parishes - Monroe remains over 6 inches below normal rainfall. Rain chances will increase next week. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City leaders seek local input on a $1 million federal urban development plan for beautification, events + housing improvements in several Monroe neighborhoods; residents may submit feedback through April 27 to the planning department. KNOE
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The University of Louisiana Monroe announced today that Ryan Cross is the new head coach of the Warhawks men's basketball team (he previously led the team from 2012 to 2020 and helped UAB secure two NCAA tournament appearances). His return brings a familiar face back to Monroe. KNOE
