- ➤ Following an executive committee meeting on March 28, the University of Louisiana System Board named Dr. Nick Bruno acting president of ULM—he is expected to lead the university until a permanent appointment is made. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana voters in the municipal primary election on March 29 rejected all four constitutional amendments. The proposals sought to expand the state Supreme Court's power over out-of-state lawyers, revise tax laws, allow lawmakers to try some youths as adults, and set earlier election dates for filling judicial vacancies. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The West Monroe High School boys’ powerlifting team won its first state championship since 2022 while the Caldwell Parish team finished runner-up in division II—marking a big day for powerlifting in Northeast Louisiana. Individual titles were claimed by Kaloe Henderson in the 165 lb. class, Hunter Wright in the 123 lb. class, AJ Washington in super heavyweight and Damian Sanders in the 275 lb. class, with Christian Ponti breaking his own record by squatting 745 lb.
