- ➤ Two local nonprofits, Hampco Inc. and Wanda’s Abounding Grace, will host the Walk Around the Block for Autism on April 4 at the NELSOB back parking lot (24 Accent Dr) in Monroe. The event offers a fun run, awareness walk, Kid’s Zone, Easter Egg hunt, live entertainment and food trucks. KNOE

- ➤ Georgia Street announced the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council’s Brown Bag Concert Series during Good Morning ArkLaMiss. Theatre South presents 'I Have a Dream' at Jack Howard Theatre from March 31 through April 4, sharing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s story through gospel music + dramatic performance and educational impact. - ➤ The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council announced BLEND 2026, a fundraising event with food, art and music (first time at Bayou Pointe) on the ULM Campus on Sunday, May 3. Local cooks, a silent auction and Legacy Strings will enhance the bayou setting while ticket proceeds support Arts Council programs. KEDM
- ➤ NELA Children’s Museum announced a $25,000 donation from the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ouachita that boosts its capital campaign and supports a new exhibit at a future location. Plans include breaking ground this summer — with the museum set to open in fall 2027. KNOE

- ➤ On March 26, ULM’s Bayou Pointe hosted the Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup Awards Luncheon, awarding $157,000 to student teams from across Louisiana. Local winners included ULM’s SocialBridge AI & Hustlr in this premier business plan competition. KEDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NASA began the final countdown for Artemis II today at 6:24 p.m. EDT from Kennedy Space Center with its rocket core built in New Orleans (a local tie-in to the mission). The 10-day mission will send four astronauts on a free-return trip around the moon. KNOE
- ➤ DOTD crews are making a final pass on state roadways today across several parishes in northeast Louisiana. Drivers should place debris near utility poles and avoid power lines since state contractors clear hazards only on right-of-ways. KNOE
