- ➤ The Children's Museum holds its two-day Easter Village event today and tomorrow at 323 Walnut Street from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., featuring an Easter Bunny photo op, a bunny patch with live rabbits, crafts & cookie decorating; tickets cost $15 at the door. KEDM
- ➤ The River Market returns tomorrow at 316 S Grand St in downtown Monroe where food and shopping vendors will set up along the Ouachita River from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; stormy weather is expected so check local updates. KNOE
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, galleries in Monroe and West Monroe held an art crawl with vendors lining both sides of the river & shops staying open late to welcome local art fans. KNOE
- ➤ The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 2 in Monroe to mark the tenth anniversary of its Dragon Boat Festival. The event brought community members together to celebrate a decade of local tradition. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The House passed HB 380 to let high school students earn a CDL, building a pipeline for future truck drivers. The bill now heads to the Senate and will take effect on July 1, 2026 (if signed by the governor). KNOE
- ➤ Monroe Fire Department is providing free smoke alarms with installation to all residents and will soon conduct regional testing for firefighter and fire communications officer candidates. Residents can contact the department for details. KNOE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A French family traveled 7,000 miles to Monroe for treatment of their son Benjamin — diagnosed with rare KIF5C — at Glory Day Therapy. His family started nonprofit Happy Benji to raise awareness and offer hope. KNOE
- ➤ The Louisiana Department of Health urges residents to remove standing water from buckets, birdbaths, and gutters now to reduce mosquito breeding for summer. The agency also recommends using EPA-registered insect repellents for extra protection. KNOE
- ➤ Nutritionist Jen Avis on Good Morning ArkLaMiss shared that eggs, offering complete protein, 20 nutrients, and only 75 calories, are ideal as a first food for infants and helpful for pregnant and breastfeeding women; one egg meets toddlers’ choline needs while two supply over half for expecting mothers.
