Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 7th of April.
Good morning, Monroe.
This past weekend, hundreds of local runners took part in the inaugural Mad Dash 5K to honor those affected by cancer—many wore shirts and pins with names and photos while one runner remembered her mother who rode 25 miles on her Peloton a month before she passed.
The race raised over $50,000 to support the Louisiana Cancer Foundation and the Cancer Foundation League.
Krewe de Riviere held its annual open house on April 6—welcoming new members and choosing Island Time as the theme for next year's Mardi Gras parade—while Adrienne Steele said plans are underway to decorate floats with tropical details to boost the celebration and local economy.
The parade is expected to add extra color and business to Monroe during the festivities.
