ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission ratified a declaration of emergency on Thursday, April 9 in Vidalia to expand the chronic wasting disease control area to include Ouachita Parish and parts of six additional parishes after a white-tailed deer tested positive—this 180-day measure restricts baiting and deer carcass transport. - ➤ OPMAD detected West Nile virus in an adult mosquito pool in Ouachita Parish — officials will begin ground spraying tonight if weather permits to reduce the risk of human infection. KNOE
