  • An 11,000 sqft community center in Crowville is set for December construction — St. Joseph also upgraded its Community House with high-speed workspaces and training programs. Both projects aim to boost local opportunities.  KNOE
  • The Louisiana Lunachicks hosted Blooms and Booths Market and a crawfish boil on Saturday, April 11 at Monroe Farmers Market, with 70 vendors and $2,500 raised to fund a summer trip to Philadelphia and Washington D.C. The nonprofit backs year-round community service (like seasonal drives) for local residents.  KNOE

HEALTH NEWS

  • People in Monroe attended the fourth annual Art is Therapy event hosted by the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority today. Local vendors and artists offered hands-on art projects to help people cope with stress, anxiety, and depression (mental health challenges).  KNOE

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ralph Garr's number 10 jersey was permanently retired at Wilbert Ellis Field on Saturday, Apr. 11 to honor his Grambling career and 13-year run with the Atlanta Braves.  KNOE
  • The Monroe Moccasins ended their regular season after back-to-back losses to the Athens Rock Lobsters on Friday and Saturday (6-2 and 5-4 in overtime). They will face the Columbus River Dragons in the playoffs starting Apr. 17.  KNOE
