- ➤ The ULM Alumni Association is hosting its 19th Annual Wine Over Water today from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on the ULM bridge over Bayou Desiard, offering wine, hors d’oeuvres, boat rides, and live music to support the Spirit of the Warhawk Endowed Scholarship. KEDM
- ➤ Friends of Black Bayou is hosting Earth Day on Saturday, April 18 at 480 Richland Place, featuring a ribbon-cutting for the new Snake Room and a plein air art contest (from 8:30 a.m. to noon). Guests may join a guided walk along refuge trails. KEDM
- ➤ Free document shredding takes place on April 23 (starting at 9 a.m.) at 112 Professional Drive in West Monroe for Love the Boot week, hosted by West Monroe West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, Ouachita Green, and MOEbiz; Northeast Louisiana residents may bring up to four boxes per person for secure disposal. - ➤ Strauss Theatre Center will present Murder in Outer Space, an interactive dinner theatre inviting guests to solve a mystery. Shows will run on April 17, 18, 24 and 25 with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. start and tickets at $50 — join this immersive event. KEDM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana Delta Community College will host a Data Center Contractor Fair to connect students, alumni, and job seekers with industry contractors — the event runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30 in the Advanced Technology Center Auditorium at LDCC in Monroe. KNOE
- ➤ The West Monroe West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce has opened applications for its Future Entrepreneur Academy as announced on Good Morning ArkLaMiss by mentorship liaison Margaret Troquille. The program is designed to help local entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses. KNOE
- ➤ The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office will host summer Youth Cadet Classes for 6th, 7th and 8th graders to learn about law enforcement, leadership and community service. Applications close May 4 and sessions are set for June 23–25 and July 21–23. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office retired K-9 Robin today after years of service assisting deputies — he was honored with a farewell celebration and will now enjoy his retirement with plenty of dog-friendly treats. KNOE
- ➤ West Monroe Public Works is offering free bulk trash pickup as part of Love the Boot Week. Residents should place tree debris and furniture at the roadside by April 17, with crews picking up items through April 24 — available only for those within city limits. KNOE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ PAWS of NE Louisiana is offering free pet supplies and vaccines as part of its ongoing wellness clinics that have helped over 2,100 pets since Fall 2023. Local pet owners can access these services now throughout Northeast Louisiana. KNOE

- ➤ Ruston High star Ahmad Hudson narrowed his college choices to Nebraska Cornhuskers + LSU Tigers and will decide his final commitment this summer as he plans to play both football and basketball in 2027. KNOE
