CRIME NEWS

  • Monroe police arrested a man last week for allegedly selling drugs in the area — the arrest came after an investigation by the High Enforcement Apprehension Team.  The Ouachita Citizen

  • Muralist Cheyenne Renee from Virginia visited Oak Grove for her '50 in 50' project and said a new downtown mural will be finished by April 23—she has already completed 17 murals so far.  KNOE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Louisiana law enforcement officers are cracking down on pickup truck drivers who do not wear seat belts this month. Officers will patrol roads to remind drivers to buckle up and avoid citations.  KNOE
  • The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission is running the Buckle Up in Your Truck campaign until April 27 to enforce seatbelt use in pickup trucks in Monroe+officers are working extra hours to issue fines starting at $50 for first offenses and $75 for repeat violations while reminding drivers during Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The campaign aims to boost seatbelt use to help reduce injuries on local roads.  KNOE
