- ➤ On April 30, the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum received a $25,000 donation from the Junior League of Monroe’s endowment fund to help move the museum to Forsythe Park where the old natatorium stood. Director Melissa Saye said the museum is raising $3.5 million and plans to begin construction in the coming months + the project will nearly double its exhibition space. KNOE

- ➤ The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting on Wallace Dean Road that was reportedly linked to an attempted burglary on April 30 around 3:30 a.m.—the case remains under review. KNOE
- ➤ Daniel Ross Jr., 56, of Monroe was sentenced to four years of home incarceration for a fatal hit-and-run—Fourth Judicial District Court Judge Scott Leehy defended his decision as the most difficult case of his career. The Ouachita Citizen

- ➤ The ULM presidential search committee named two finalists on April 30 — either Chris Broadwater or Carrie Castille may be chosen as the university's next president. The final decision will come in May after a search that began in January following former President Ron Berry's resignation. KNOE
- ➤ Edwin Ray Bryan Jr., president of the Franklin Parish School Board, died on April 25 at 71. He served on the board for 20-year and was a long-time leader in local education. KNOE
