ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Severe storms caused widespread damage in south and West Monroe, with Greater Free Gift Baptist Church, several homes in Richwood and Luna, and local schools suffering outages and closures while residents struggled with downed trees and power lines. Crews worked quickly to clear roads and restore power, and Entergy expects to have most customers reconnected by tonight—emergency teams continue to help those injured in the events. KNOE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Louisiana OMV warns Monroe residents that scammers are sending text messages claiming a toll fee is owed and threatening to suspend driver licenses. The agency said it does not collect toll fees and urged people not to click links or share personal information—deleting any suspicious texts immediately. KNOE
- ➤ Monroe moved its Planning and Urban Development, Engineering, Tax and Revenue, and Utility Billing offices to a more accessible location at 1401 Stubbs Ave, centralizing city services in one building. The change aims to provide residents easier access to municipal services. The Ouachita Citizen
