COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Monroe Police Department invites residents to join Bike for Hope on Saturday, May 16 at 8 a.m. The ride starts at BJ Washington Rec Center, makes stops at Emily P. Robinson, Henrietta Johnson, and Benoit Rec Centers, and ends at the Monroe Civic Center to build community trust.  KNOE
  • Mayor Layton Curtis said community events are on the horizon as the third annual North Louisiana Safety Conference will soon return to Monroe for training sessions for professionals. The Better Business Bureau warned residents to be cautious of door-to-door security system scams rising over the summer.  KNOE

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The third annual North Louisiana Safety Conference returns to Monroe to offer sessions that bring together business leaders, safety and HR professionals + individuals seeking safer workplaces. Additional details on the schedule and venue will be shared soon.  KNOE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • National Police Week is underway from May 11-17 as local families and officers honor fallen colleagues and celebrate ongoing service. West Monroe Chief of Police Jason Pleasant highlighted the lasting impact of these sacrifices (noting rising interest in law enforcement careers).  KNOE
  • Ruston's Fire Department wrapped up its second Citizens Academy after a six-week program that gave residents firsthand experience in firefighting. Meanwhile, Ouachita Parish officials ended storm debris removal with crews picking up only mulch debris (residents needing extra help should contact a tree service).  KNOE
