- ➤ Benjy Lewis stepped down as Ouachita High School football coach after he led the Lions to a championship last season. He became Good Hope Middle School’s new assistant principal on May 12, and the board is now searching for a replacement. KNOE
- ➤ Grambling State University issued a statement after a legislative audit revealed a $5 million deficit in its athletics department, saying it has begun changes (zero-based budgeting and revenue reviews) to build a sustainable financial model while preserving its legacy. KNOE

- ➤ Louisiana lawmakers Carter and Higgins urged the USTR today to open a Section 301 investigation into foreign seafood import practices that harm domestic businesses, with groups like the Farm Bureau and Shrimp Alliance supporting the move to level the playing field for local producers & coastal economies. - ➤ The Monroe Police Department is hosting a wreath laying ceremony at 10:30 a.m. today at the Public Safety Center (1810 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive) to honor officers who died in the line of duty, with Richland Parish Sheriff Neal Harwell speaking. KNOE

- ➤ Stevie Cousans celebrated 60 years of service at St. Francis Medical Center today & the hospital marked her long career with a special on-site ceremony. KNOE
- ➤ Abatement officials said on Wednesday, May 13 that 11 mosquito pools in Ouachita Parish have tested positive for West Nile virus due to recent rainfall and warm temperatures (conditions that favor mosquito breeding), and residents are advised to eliminate standing water and use repellant during peak hours.
