CRIME NEWS

  • On May 24, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated a homicide in Monroe after a vehicle crashed into an apartment building on Roy Drive with one person inside suffering a gun shot wound who later died—authorities issued an arrest warrant for second-degree murder and the suspect is in custody.  KNOE
  • Attorney Carroll Powell Lexing filed a lawsuit on behalf of Neverless Robbson, who claims Investigator Cody Kinniard used excessive force during a May 31 vehicle stop outside his home—this suit follows a grand jury's refusal to charge Kinniard in a November 2024 shooting.  KNOE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Miss Louisiana Organization is launching its new Diamond Fleur De Lis Program to empower pre-teen girls with one-day mentorship on June 20 — registration closes on June 1 for girls aged 11 to 13 by December 31, and participants pay a $250 fee. Girls will also receive a ticket for any night of the Miss Louisiana competition from June 19-21.  KNOE
