CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On May 24, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office began investigating a homicide after a vehicle crashed into an apartment building. KNOE
- ➤ The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office asked Monroe residents to help find 16-year-old Jason Crain, who left his home on May 30 and was last seen with brown hair and blue eyes while wearing white pants—a gray long-sleeve shirt and possibly headed toward Powell Avenue; anyone with information is urged to call 318-329-1200. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Downtown Gallery Crawl will take place on June 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in downtown Monroe and West Monroe, featuring local art exhibits and live music by Chels King, Kayla Condrey and DBK Dance — an event that will bring the community together to celebrate creative talent. KEDM
- ➤ The 2025 Peach Hunt kicked off on June 2 in Monroe and will run through June 6 ahead of the Louisiana Peach Festival on June 7—participants can win $500 and an extra $250 if they wear a festival t-shirt while following safety rules by only searching public areas during daylight hours. KNOE

- ➤ The Endom Bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since June 2 as crews complete work on new crosswalks in downtown Monroe; motorists must detour from Fourth Street to Mill Street until work ends on June 9 — city officials advise caution. MyArkLaMiss
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Monroe health centers warn that proposed federal budget cuts being considered in the Senate may reduce Medicaid funding and free testing, putting low-cost services and jobs at risk. Mark Windham, CEO of Pinnacle Family Health, said the cuts could limit access to HIV care and other essential services (including free transportation and dental support) across Northeast Louisiana.
