- ➤ A West Monroe man died in a head-on crash on Tuesday, June 17 on Highway 557 in Ouachita Parish—24-year-old Troy Bates lost his life when 19-year-old Avery Watson tried to pass a log truck unsafely, and Watson got minor injuries. KNOE
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On June 17, deputies in Monroe stopped a vehicle for not coming to a complete stop and detected marijuana, then arrested Laquanta Lynch—accused of second-degree murder and other crimes—and booked him at Ouachita Correctional Center. KNOE
- ➤ The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for 14-year-old Rosie Haddox—who ran away from her home on Dianna Drive on June 16 while wearing red and black pants and a red shirt—and anyone with information is asked to call 318-329-1200. MyArkLaMiss
- ➤ On June 16, Monroe police responded to Marlabee Drive after a neighbor’s unleashed dog charged a three-year-old boy, prompting his father to confront 20-year-old Juvain Keys who then threatened him with a firearm—what Keys claimed was a toy—before being arrested and charged with cruelty to juveniles, aggravated assault, and contraband. - ➤ On March 13 at about 11:45 a.m., West Monroe Police and other officials responded when a woman jumped from the Louisville Bridge into the Ouachita River after climbing the guardrail and saying she wanted to die. Off-duty Detective Townsend and Captain Cromwell swam with a paddleboard (from Campbell's Landing Marina near River Place Condos) to bring her safely to shore, and officials later honored their brave teamwork.
