COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Local crews worked behind the scenes for the Twin City Fireworks Show during Fourth of July celebrations—detailed preparations and safety protocols helped create a secure and dazzling display for community families. KNOE
- ➤ On July 4, the Triangle Park Children's Parade brought local children and families together at the park to celebrate the Fourth of July—organizers described the event as an annual tradition that unites the community. KNOE
- ➤ Oscar, Alyssa, Kohala and Coco are available for adoption through River Cities Humane Society for Cats, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and charges an $80 fee that covers spay/neuter, vaccines and microchipping—donations and volunteer help are also needed. KNOE
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Monroe man was arrested last weekend — he allegedly attacked his girlfriend during an incident where juveniles were present. The Ouachita Citizen
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Louisiana Department of Education released 2025 LEAP scores showing many Northeast Louisiana schools made gains. Lincoln Parish achieved a 43% mastery rate while schools in Caldwell, East Carroll, Jackson, City of Monroe and Union parishes advanced — 74% of systems improved 3 to 12 scores and 80% maintained or grew 3 to 8 scores. - ➤ Northeast Louisiana schools reported improved LEAP scores for the 2024-25 school year, showing gains in student learning—officials said the results will help guide future teaching plans. KNOE
