Two ULM students, Unika Bista and Divya Shah, placed third in the Nexus Technology Cup 2025 in Baton Rouge with their app Dristi (which uses artificial intelligence to give real-time scene descriptions for visually impaired users).

Their achievement earned them a 5,000-dollar prize among 21 competing teams statewide.

Last week the city of Monroe broke ground on a $27 million project to expand internet access for residents in partnership with AT&T.
