  • 90.3 KEDM Public Radio in Monroe has kept its local programming strong despite cuts to federal funding and says it will continue to serve local listeners. The station will launch a fundraising campaign to cover the lost funding — and its local team remains committed to delivering trusted news and cultural shows.  MyArkLaMiss
  • Miracles to Milestones is selling lemonade to raise funds for inclusive playgrounds and equal play for all children—local restaurants, including Flying Tiger Brewing and Pizza Bar, are joining the effort. The fundraiser honors founder Hillary Sirmon’s son while helping kids of all abilities play together.  KNOE
  • Six-month-old Sprocket is ready for adoption along with about ten other cats at Dancing Cat Farm's event tomorrow at PetSmart in Monroe from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rescue founder Linda Pettit said the farm houses up to 80 cats and relies on local volunteers to help care for them.  KNOE
  • River Cities Humane Society for Cats in Monroe offers Kevin, a six-month-old cat, and kitten Nom Chompsky for adoption—available today from noon to 6 p.m. with an $80 fee that covers spay/neuter, initial vaccines, and microchipping.  KNOE

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 63-year-old man died in a mobile home fire in West Monroe early Thursday morning — investigators found that the home had a non-working smoke alarm and the fire department responded before 3 a.m. on July 24.  MyArkLaMiss

  • West Monroe Police responded to reports on July 23, 2025 of an attempted purse snatching on the 100 block of Trenton Street (5:03 p.m.) and a robbery on the 400 block of Thomas Road (5:25 p.m.) where a Hispanic male suspect driving a red or maroon Ford F-150 with a black bed cover fled both scenes.  MyArkLaMiss
  • State officials warn residents about an OMV text message scam—residents are urged to ignore any unexpected texts and verify messages directly with OMV. They recommend reporting suspicious communications to local law enforcement.  KNOE
