CULTURE NEWS

  • The Northeast Louisiana Delta African-American Heritage Museum in Monroe is urging local membership support to help preserve the Delta’s cultural heritage amid declining public and private funding. Museum officials say that funds raised keep archives and exhibits alive—an investment in educating future generations.  MyArkLaMiss

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of West Monroe will begin construction on the Sunshine Heights Drainage Improvement Project shortly after September 2 to improve stormwater management and address persistent flooding in the area. Utility contractors are already relocating infrastructure along Otis and Swiss streets — city officials say the project is part of a broader effort to resolve flooding issues.  MyArkLaMiss
