- ➤ Jay Davis and Adrienne LaFrance-Wells have been named as King and Queen for the 2026 Krewe de Riviere parade after community votes and board interviews. The Grand Ball is set for January 17 and the parade will roll through Monroe and West Monroe on February 7 at 2 p.m. KNOE

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mark, the education curator at the Monroe zoo, retired today after many years of service—he is known for his engaging segments that taught visitors about animals. In his final segment, he introduced Malia, a Bengal tiger that has become a favorite among zoo goers. MyArkLaMiss
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ LSU AgCenter horticulture agents Kerry Heafner and Marcie Wilson are urging local gardeners to save heirloom seeds as summer comes to a close. - ➤ The City of Monroe is hosting an online public auction that features items recovered from the environmental cleanup of the historic Ouachita Candy building—vintage doors, tables, and furniture—that will fund the restoration of the Cooley House. - ➤ River Cities Humane Society for Cats announces that Aleister and Zoe are available for adoption today—Aleister has wobbly cat syndrome that is not painful but needs extra care and donations.
