- ➤ Today, the Compassion for Kids Center in Monroe offers food and faith support to local families while distributing groceries every Tuesday and Thursday. Operating under LA Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries, the center works with donors, churches, and the Food Bank of Northeast LA to help over 250,000 children in need. MyArkLaMiss
- ➤ The Monroe Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Green Qube Giveaway that gives participants a chance to win $500 and free Johnny’s Pizza for a year as clues are provided daily on the KTVE/KARD Morning Show and Evening Crew for four weeks. - ➤ The ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts will present the murder mystery comedy CLUE from October 2 to 5 at the Helen Spyker Theater in Monroe—performances on October 2 to 4 start at 7:30 p.m. and the final show on October 5 begins at 2:00 p.m., with tickets costing $10 and free entry for ULM students with valid IDs. - ➤ Jerry Lee Lewis was born in Ferriday on Sept. 29, 1935 – a famed rock ’n roll pioneer – and he earned a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 before he died in 2022 at age 87. KNOE

- ➤ Officers in Northeast Louisiana are receiving eight hours of crisis intervention training to improve their de-escalation skills during mental health emergencies. Major Anthony Washington said the program, sponsored by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, aims to help officers handle people in crisis calmly. MyArkLaMiss
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ULM College of Pharmacy received a $10,436 grant from the Living Well Foundation to support a stroke education project that trains local emergency staff to treat strokes faster and safer—training will begin on October 2 and run through November. The project uses new tools and a mobile app to give rural providers real-time guidance in stroke care. KEDM
