- ➤ West Monroe Main Street Director Adrienne LaFrance-Wells said on Good Morning ArkLaMiss that Downtown will host several holiday events (including festive gatherings) as organizers finalize plans (more details are expected soon). KNOE
- ➤ Today, the Salvation Army launched its biggest Red Kettle campaign in Monroe—volunteers will be at local Walmart, Brookshires, Hobby Lobby, and Sam’s Club collecting donations while the shelter stays open on Thanksgiving to serve meals. Captain Jerome Casey said the funds will help support shelters and meal services, and he encouraged community members to volunteer. KNOE
- ➤ Gordon McKernan injury attorneys are preparing their annual bike giveaway — a program to provide new bikes to local children — before the holidays. KNOE

- ➤ Last night, bars in Monroe were busy on Blackout Wednesday as many gathered before Thanksgiving. Nutrition expert Allie Foreman from Ochsner Eat Fit warned that heavy drinking led to dehydration—affecting blood sugar and sleep and risking a rough holiday. KNOE
- ➤ During Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the American Lung Association urged residents to quit smoking, get regular check-ups, exercise, and keep to good air both indoors and outdoors + early screening can boost chances of beating lung cancer. Hospitals in Monroe, including St. Francis Medical Center and Ochsner LSU Health, offer lung cancer screenings for those at high risk. KNOE

- ➤ Monroe plumber Jay Schmill advised homeowners to avoid holiday clogs by not flushing too much toilet paper or pouring grease down the sink—he said heavy use at gatherings can slow drains and pose safety risks. KNOE
