The West Monroe Police Department is conducting Santa Patrol to boost safe driving and holiday spirit in the community — officers will monitor key areas during the season.

The Biedenharn Museum in Monroe will host a free Christmas Open House from December 4th to December 6th that offers festive décor, refreshments and a visit with Santa for families looking to save during the holiday season.

The museum will also hold additional events including the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Night on December 17th from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ouachita Parish Schools announced the winners of its 2025 Christmas Card contest.

The winning designs from students in 2nd grade (Swartz Lower Elementary), 5th grade (Kiroli Elementary), 6th grade (Sterlington Middle) and 9th grade (West Ouachita High) will be used as the official Christmas cards.

The City of Monroe opened a warming station at the Liller Maddox Marbles Recreation Center Monday at 7 p.m.—it offers food, water, and cots and will remain available until 9 a.m. on Dec.3.

GOWC switched its disinfectant to free chlorine on December 1 and will continue the change through December 21—customers might notice a change in taste and smell while the water remains safe and meets FDA standards.

The company advises running cold water for two minutes if the tap water has not been used for several days.

FMOL Health | St. Francis and LOPA will hold the Tree of Life & Candlelight Vigil today at 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis Community Health Center + honor donor heroes and support families by inviting them to hang personalized ornaments on the tree.
