- ➤ T-Mobile awarded West Monroe a $50,000 grant to revitalize its downtown riverfront park. The project will add new entrance signage, improved landscaping, and enhanced community programs along the Ouachita River — a move to better connect residents with the historic area. KNOE
- ➤ City of West Monroe held its annual Wreaths Across America event at Halsey Cemetery on Dec. 12 — 150 sponsored wreaths honored fallen veterans. Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell said she hopes future sponsors cover more than 800 headstones. KNOE
- ➤ Two adoptable cats, Pockets (Dilute Tortoiseshell) and Soufflé (Flame Point Siamese) joined Good Morning ArkLaMiss yesterday to boost local pet adoption efforts and are available through MyLove Daily Cats. KNOE
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Sterlington Panthers won the Division III non-select state championship by beating Jena 34-20 Friday afternoon in a game where they scored 27 straight second-half points. Senior linebacker Tre Burch recorded a pick-six in the final five minutes to seal the title. KNOE
- ➤ Monroe Civic Center will host four professional arena football games in 2026 — the new season of The Arena League gives local fans a chance to enjoy high-energy football near home. KNOE
