ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Monroe and West Monroe will collect live Christmas trees, free of decorations, for recycling from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6. Drop-offs occur at the Civic Center parking lot and the old recycling center on 409 Lincoln St — behind the police department; Munholland Tree Service will chip them for mulch. KNOE

- ➤ The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries warned Northeast Louisiana residents about nearly 40 bird flu cases detected since October. Officials advised not to handle or eat sick birds after a local bobcat tested positive and a Southwest Louisiana resident was hospitalized with the virus. KNOE
- ➤ The Northeast Delta Human Services Authority in Monroe launched its Light the Season program to help locals cope with seasonal affective disorder by providing screening, counseling, and wellness education + the initiative offers support for managing seasonal symptoms. KNOE

- ➤ AAA expects holiday travel to break records from Dec. 20 to Jan. 1, with busy roads and skies this season. The Monroe Moccasins extended their streak to seven wins — they won 3-1 last night in Biloxi and 6-4 tonight against the Breakers. KNOE
