Eight Monroe Moccasins players head home to Canada while the league sorts out immigration
The Morning Monroe team
The Monroe Moccasins announced Monday that eight players will temporarily return home to Canada while the Federal Prospects Hockey League resolves league-wide immigration requirements. Back in Canada, they can sign with other clubs and stay active until officials finalize their visas.

Owner Nic Perkin called it "an unexpected challenge." MyArkLaMiss reports team officials said the decision was difficult but in the players' best personal and professional interests.
- Players leaving: eight Canadians
- Reason: league-wide FPHL immigration requirements
- Expected return: once the league completes the immigration process
Head Coach Russ Parent said the eight are in town and allowed to train, but "basically on hiatus." Losing them is "basically changing out almost half your team," he said, and the team has brought in players from out of town. Friday's home game against the Columbus River Dragons is listed for 7:05 p.m. at the Monroe Civic Center Arena.
