- ➤ The City of Monroe announced that Downtown Monroe’s river market will reopen this Saturday, April 19 from 9 AM to 1 PM — a community event featuring local talent and art. A second market will take place on May 10 with a pet-friendly atmosphere that invites residents to connect with local creators. KEDM
- ➤ The city of West Monroe unveiled the renovated Sunken Gardens at Kiroli Park on Monday, April 14 as part of the park’s 100th anniversary celebration — two other upgraded structures were also opened to mark the milestone. The Ouachita Citizen

- ➤ Monroe Fire Department responded to a fire at Bayou Portable Buildings at 8798 Millhaven Road+ the blaze was quickly extinguished with no reported injuries while investigators work to determine its cause. KNOE

- ➤ A state judge will decide within a month whether Madison Parish Hospital stays under local leadership or moves to state oversight by a fiscal administrator. The two-day hearing on April 14 and 15 showed state officials arguing that oversight is needed because of past financial missteps while hospital leaders insist the facility is strong with over $9 million in cash.
