- ➤ LDWF agents arrested 19 boaters statewide for alleged DWI on the water during the Operation Dry Water campaign from July 4 to July 6 — in Ouachita Parish a boat struck a fixed object causing a hull puncture and one person needed medical treatment, while in Jackson Parish a bay boat backed into a parked pontoon with no injuries reported. - ➤ On July 4, 2025, Ouachita Parish SCAT conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 165 near the Jackson Street interchange in Monroe and arrested Gary Thomas after seizing 2.02 pounds (916 grams) of methamphetamine. KEDM

- ➤ ULM has secured $9 million in state funding toward a $25.7 million renovation of Sugar Hall that will upgrade academic and clinical spaces for programs like speech-language pathology and dental hygiene — officials say the project will benefit both students and community members with a grand opening expected soon.
